My Journey with Herbal Medicine

My healing journey began in Belize in 2008, during a Rainforest Field Studies course.

I caught a terrible stomach bug, and a Mayan Elder made me a tea that completely healed me.

When I returned to school at UC Santa Cruz, I bought a book on herbal detoxing and began experimenting with loose leaf herbs. I made teas that became my medicines.

I started Mana Tea in Honolulu in 2014 with the intention to give people a taste of herbal medicine in the most delicious way possible. I crafted my teas to be effective and stand on their own, with no added sweeteners, flavorings or preservatives. Just the way nature intended.

After moving back to California in 2021, I dissolved my Hawaii-based business, and now continue to make my organic herbal blends as a passion project. Some of the labels have my old business name "Mana Tea." Mana is a Hawaiian word that refers to the spiritual essence innate in all things. Since reconvening with my California roots, I've rebranded "Mana" to the more familiar "Free Spirit."

I've studied both Western Herbalism as well as Ayurvedic, the latter of which emphasizes the influence that herbs have on the mind and constitution. I hope these teas bring you inspiration and nourishment, in body, mind and spirit.
